Mount Vernon Park is a non-profit, members-as-shareholders association (membership is not based on local home ownership) located at the corner of Lafayette Drive and Fairfax Road in Hollin Hall Village.
Set on nearly 13 acres of wooded parkland, the Park is the focus of summer activity for 600 families. MVP members enjoy 3 pools (25 meter, 50 meter and wading), 4 lighted tennis courts (open year round), a large picnic area with grills, grass volleyball court, a children’s playground, a covered pavilion, and a 1 acre pond for fishing. The Park and swimming pools open on Memorial Day weekend and close after Labor Day.
Operating hours once schools are out in late June are generally 11 AM to 9 PM Monday through Saturday and Noon to 9 PM on Sunday through Labor Day.
During the summer season, MVPA is a center of activity. Our swim team, ages 5 through 18, competes in the Northern Virginia Swim League. The Women‘s, Girl’s and Boy’s compete in the Mount Vernon Community Tennis League.
Throughout the summer, the MVPA Activities Committee sponsors activities for all ages including a 4th July Celebration, Crab Feast, Pizza party, children’s crafts and more. Our aqua aerobics sessions and early morning Master swim program are also ways to stay active.
To join MVP you will need to fill out an application and return it with a $30 nonrefundable processing fee. When a Membership becomes available, we will contact you. The membership application and online payment link can be found on by clicking HERE. Old application forms found on the web and mailed in will not be accepted. Membership applications must be made using the link above.
Apply now to reserve your place on the waiting list. The wait list can take 1-2 years depending on the yearly turnover and number of applications received. When contacted, you will purchase a Membership Certificate for $300 and pay an initiation fee of $500. When you leave MVPA, your certificate is re-sold, and the certificate value is returned to you. The Initiation Fee is non-refundable.
In addition, the yearly membership fee due on April 1 is $500.00 for the first family member and $50.00 for each additional member over 1 year of age by June 1st. (eg. a family of four would pay $650). Through our work day program, $125 of your dues is refundable. Arrangements can also be made for childcare providers. Dues are prorated if you join during the season. Included in the yearly dues is a capital improvements fee of $175 per membership certificate per year. This helps us to maintain, renovate and improve the Park.
