Mount Vernon Park Association (MVPA)

Tucked away on 13.2 acres beside a stream in Alexandria’s Fort Hunt neighborhood, Mount Vernon Park has been a seasonal retreat for generations. Since 1954, MVPA has offered families a place to relax, play, and connect with nature and neighbors. Whether you’re swimming laps, playing tennis, or enjoying a quiet afternoon by the pond, there’s something for everyone.

Park Features

  • Swimming Facilities: A 50-meter pool, a 25-meter pool, and a shaded wading pool for young children
  • Tennis & Pickleball Courts: Four hard-surface tennis courts available for reservation outside of scheduled clinics and team matches
  • Recreation Areas: A bathhouse with changing and shower facilities, a playground nestled under mature trees, a spacious pavilion for parties and gatherings and outdoor grills
  • Large Pond: A beautiful pond stocked for catch-and-release fishing
  • Snack Shack: Serving ice cream and snacks all summer long

The park and pool are open from mid-May through Labor Day, with hours published closer to the season opening.

Activities & Programs

MVPA is known for its vibrant swim and tennis programs and a calendar full of seasonal events that bring the community together:

  • Swim Team: A founding member of the Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL), MVPA’s team emphasizes sportsmanship, community, and a love of swimming through friendly competition
  • Tennis Programs: Year-round clinics, private lessons, and summer camps in partnership with ProsToYou Tennis.
  • Pickleball Programs: _____________
  • Swimming Lessons: Private/Semi-private lessons available throughout the summer, taught by experienced instructors.
  • Family Events: Seasonal favorites like the Crab Feast and Fourth of July celebration, plus movie nights and outdoor activities that bring the community together.

We’re a volunteer-powered community, and our members take pride in maintaining the park and organizing events that make MVPA a special place to spend the summer.
